Today we will give a Seminar to Master students about how statistics and Operations Research (OR) techniques can be used to support Public Transport decision-makers in their strategic planning, addressing two conflicting goals: offer better mobility possibilities to a growing number of passengers, and reduce the environmental footprint.
Luís Albino, one of our OR experts, will show how software tools with incorporated OR can predict the future passenger demand and run powerful optimisers to define the transportation service supply and calculate the resources needed to operationalise that service.
